Taking a swim, going for a snorkel or just lay back on one of the idyllic beaches and islands is an indispensable part of your Flores exploration. Flores is blessed with beautiful untouched coastal strips with crystal-clear water. No beach resembles another. You will find black, white, and even pink sand beaches, beaches with mountains in the background, or just the jungle as a backdrop.

Several islands circum-navigate the main island, giving you more options when enjoying your pristine hideaway. All of these islands are blessed with white, sandy beaches and turquoise water. Around Labuan Bajo (West Flores), for example, are the secluded islands of Kanawa, Seraya Kecil and Bidadari. They can be easily reached by one of the local excursion boats or by a chartered fishing boat.

In the north of Bajawa, located in the sub-district of Riung, the so-called Riung 17 Islands Marine Park is famed for its beautiful coral gardens. Plenty of islands with white, sandy beaches, located in different settings, are waiting to be explored.

Around Maumere (East Flores), also, you will find plenty of pretty islands within easy reach. Among others, the chain of islands includes Pulau Besar (‘big’ in Indonesian), Pulau Babi (‘Pig’ in Indonesian), Pulau Pangabatang, Pulau Sukun, Pulau Palu’e, Pemana Besar and Pemana Kecil. Due to the short distances, chartering a boat and hopping around the islands is the best option for exploring all the idyllic beaches.
